I’m running 50k in May for families facing baby loss

This May, we’re taking on the Sands 50km challenge together 💙

We’ll be running and walking a combined 50km across the month to raise money for Sands, a charity that means so much to us both.

At the beginning of April, we lost our baby boy, Arlo, at 21 weeks due to a rare genetic condition. It’s something that has changed our lives forever, and like so many families, we’ve had to learn how to live alongside that loss.

Sands are supporting us through this incredibly difficult time, offering compassion, understanding, and a space where we haven’t felt alone. Their work is so important for anyone experiencing pregnancy or baby loss.

This isn’t our first connection to Sands either – they also supported Kimberley's family when she lost her nephew in 2018. It’s a cause that has been close to our hearts for many years, and now more than ever.

With a mix of running, walking, and determination, every kilometre we complete will be in memory of Arlo, and for all the babies gone too soon.

If you’re able to support us, whether through a donation or by sharing our page, it would mean so much.

Thank you for helping us support such an important charity 🤍

My Updates

The beginning of an adventure 🩵

Wednesday 6th May
Well, our first weekend clocking the kilometers didn't quite go to plan.
Anthony woke up early to go to work on Friday morning and upon arriving in Plymouth messaged me to say his left hand and arm was feeling a bit funny. I urged Anthony to get checked out and he went to Derriford A&E and after some tests they wanted to admit him to be checked some more. After an echo, CT scan and MRI they told Anthony on Saturday morning that he had had a small stroke. They continued to keep Anthony in hospital, monitoring him and his heart to try to confirm how this happened in someone so young, fit and healthy.
Anthony was finally discharged on Monday afternoon, feeling better, with a plan in place for support moving forward.
My bank holiday weekend was spent traveling to and from Derriford but I did manage to squeeze in a 6.5km walk on Saturday morning! The first of a few kilometres for Arlo and Sands 🩵
