I’m running 50k in May for families facing baby loss

This May, we’re taking on the Sands 50km challenge together 💙

We’ll be running and walking a combined 50km across the month to raise money for Sands, a charity that means so much to us both.

At the beginning of April, we lost our baby boy, Arlo, at 21 weeks due to a rare genetic condition. It’s something that has changed our lives forever, and like so many families, we’ve had to learn how to live alongside that loss.

Sands are supporting us through this incredibly difficult time, offering compassion, understanding, and a space where we haven’t felt alone. Their work is so important for anyone experiencing pregnancy or baby loss.

This isn’t our first connection to Sands either – they also supported Kimberley's family when she lost her nephew in 2018. It’s a cause that has been close to our hearts for many years, and now more than ever.

With a mix of running, walking, and determination, every kilometre we complete will be in memory of Arlo, and for all the babies gone too soon.

If you’re able to support us, whether through a donation or by sharing our page, it would mean so much.

Thank you for helping us support such an important charity 🤍

My Updates

Not the planned start to May!

Wednesday 6th May

So the start of May and the 50k fundraiser for Sands has not quite gone to plan. Didn’t feel great on Friday morning. My left hand, upper arm and quad were all feeling a bit numb. I went into hospital and found out I have had a small stroke. I am very fortunate that I feeling ok now, it was only a small stroke that effected the sensation down my left side. I was discharged on Monday, and there is a plan in place to recover from this.

Today I recorded my first kilometres for Sands. It felt good but I feel tired after every walk (which is what the doctors said would happen). I planned to run most of these kilometres but for now, I am walking. Nothing will stop me completing this challenge for Arlo ❤️.

Special mention to my wife Kimberley. She encouraged me to go hospital when if it was just me I might not have gone. Travelling over an hour each day to visit me and bring me things to keep me entertained. She kept the cats and house in check, still managed to register some kilometres for Sands, and has been looking after me and making sure I am taking it easy!! Arlo has a very incredible Mum 😘 x
