🏃♀️ 50K for Sands
So… I’m going to do something that doesn’t come particularly naturally to me — I’m going to run 50K in September.
I’ve never been a natural runner and, if I’m honest, I hate running 😂 it’s hard!!
But I’ve been wanting to get back out there, and I thought giving myself a proper challenge would be a good way to do it.
In 2013, before I had Jack I lost a baby at 12 weeks.
At the time, there was very little support. I remember being in a labour ward surrounded by people having their babies, while I was losing mine, and feeling a real lack of empathy throughout the whole experience. I remember them saying it wasn’t a baby, it was a foetus. Like it didn’t matter.
I’ve never really spoken about it, but know that so many families (dads included) face the unimaginable loss of a baby much later in pregnancy, through stillbirth, or after their baby is born.
That’s why the work Sands does feels important. They provide support, understanding and space to grieve that I didn’t really have — helping families through pregnancy and baby loss and making sure they don’t have to navigate it all alone.
🏃♀️ So I’m dusting off the running shoes, getting myself back out on those rolling Cornish hills!! 🏔️ and pushing to tick off 50K, and hopefully raise some money along the way.
I know moneys tight for everyone with this shitty economy right now, but if you do fancy supporting me, I’d be so grateful and would mean I canny back out!
Wish me luck… 🍀
