I’m walking 100K in September for families facing baby loss

In memory of every baby who should be here today

We’ve committed to walking 100K in September in memory of every much-loved baby who, sadly, is not here today.

For our team, the reason behind this challenge is deeply personal.

On 10 September 2025, baby Archie Garry O’Hagan was born sleeping. At 37 weeks, Archie’s mummy suffered a placental abruption during a midwife appointment. Sadly, the urgency of the situation was not recognised immediately, and by the time the family reached hospital, Archie had already passed away.

Although nothing could change the heartbreaking outcome, the hospital gave Archie’s family the precious opportunity to spend time with him after he was born. They were able to hold him, cuddle him and create memories that they will carry with them forever. Grandparents, brothers and sisters, aunties and uncles were also able to visit and say goodbye.

This was made possible with the support of the hospital and charities, including Sands, who provide vital support to families facing the devastating loss of a baby.

Sands works to ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby receives the support they need and deserve during some of the toughest moments imaginable. They campaign for improvements in care, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research aimed at reducing the number of babies who die and helping to prevent other families from experiencing this unimaginable loss.

Every step of our 100K walk will be for Archie, and for every precious baby who should be here today.
