100k for baby Archie

On 1st September I started a 100k walking challenge with my family to raise money for Sands, in memory of my cousin Robynne's beautiful baby boy, Archie.

Last year, on 10th September, my Robynne's baby Archie was born sleeping. This month has been one my she has been dreading, as Archie should have been celebrating his first birthday. 

To honour Archie and mark what should have been his first birthday, our family is coming together to each walk 100k this September, while raising money for Sands to help support other families going through the unimaginable loss of a baby.

When Archie was born, Robynne was given precious time to hold him, make memories with him and have photographs to treasure forever. Those moments meant so much and are memories she will always have of her beautiful boy. 

Sands was there to help make those precious moments possible, and they continue to provide vital support to bereaved families, as well as training and resources for those caring for families after the loss of a baby.

We would love to raise as much as we can in Archie’s memory, so that Sands can continue to be there for other families when they need that support the most - we have nearly raised £1000!

At the moment I have already walked 13.5k, I’m really hoping I can walk the full 100k, but due to my health I’m currently struggling with walking longer distances. So, I’m going to give it my best shot and, where I need to, I’m going to swim some of the distance instead! 

It might not be the easiest challenge for me, but doing it in Archie’s memory and helping raise money for Sands makes it all worthwhile.
