April Jogging Challenge

I’ve committed to the April Jogging Challenge for families facing baby loss

I’ve committed to the April Jogging Challenge for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Thank you.

Jogging for Sands: A Personal Journey with a Wider Purpose

Monday 23rd Mar

I never imagined I’d be writing something like this, but here I am putting one foot in front of the other, quite literally, for a cause that has become deeply personal to me.

I’ve started jogging for Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity. What began as a simple idea has grown into something far more meaningful. This isn’t about fitness goals or ticking off miles it’s about remembering, supporting, and standing alongside those who have experienced a loss no one should ever have to face.

This journey is rooted in my own family’s story. My wife has experienced the heartbreak of losing a little one. My sister-in-law has too. Seeing the impact of that loss up close changes you. It gives you a deeper understanding of grief the quiet moments, the “what ifs,” and the strength it takes to carry on.

But this isn’t just about our family.

As I run, I think about the countless other families who have gone through similar pain. People whose stories may never be widely told, but whose experiences matter just as much. Sands exists for all of them offering support, understanding, and a community where no one has to feel alone.

Every step I take is for them too.

Jogging has become my way of reflecting, of remembering, and of doing something however small that might help make a difference. Whether it’s raising awareness, starting conversations, or contributing to the support Sands provides, it all counts.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that loss like this doesn’t just disappear. But neither does love. And through things like this through movement, support, and shared purpose we can honour that love.

So I’ll keep running. For my family. For others. For every little life that deserves to be remembered.

And if sharing this encourages even one person to talk, to support, or to reach out then every mile is worth it.
