I’m running 50k in September for families facing baby loss.

In September, I’ve committed to running 50k in memory of every much-loved baby who is sadly not here today, and especially for my own daughter, Charlotte. In 2017, at 20 weeks pregnant, we lost our beautiful second child due to a placental condition called Chronic Histiocytic Intervillous. Losing Charlotte shattered us and changed our lives forever. Sadly, our story is far from rare—NHS data shows that around 1 in 8 known pregnancies end in miscarriage, and in 2023 alone, 4,478 babies died in the UK through stillbirths and neonatal deaths. Stillbirth, the loss of a baby after 20 weeks, can be caused by placental issues, fetal abnormalities, or maternal health problems, but in many cases no clear cause is ever found, leaving families with unanswered questions and little support. We were fortunate to have each other and a strong network of family and friends, but many parents face this devastating grief alone. I believe every family who experiences miscarriage, stillbirth, or neonatal loss should receive ongoing care and support—because the grieving process can take years. This challenge is my way of honouring Charlotte’s memory and raising funds for a charity that provides the vital help so many families need. I’m not a natural runner, so this will truly test me, but I’ll run every step with Charlotte in my heart, making her proud. I’ll be sharing my progress here and on TikTok, and I would be so grateful for any donations to support this much-needed cause.
