I’m running 50k in May for families facing baby loss

I'm running 50k in May for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby.

Sadly, we lost our baby at 12 weeks.

Since then, I’ve been taking time to heal and slowly find my way back to feeling like myself again. Taking on this challenge feels like a really positive step for me.

If you’d like to support in any way, whether that’s donating or sharing, it would mean a lot 🤍

My Updates

The end of a chapter

Friday 22nd May
Today I completed my final run of the Sands 50k challenge 🧡💜 Finishing this challenge feels incredibly emotional. When I first signed up, I never imagined how much this journey would end up meaning to me, not just physically, but mentally and emotionally too. Over the past few months, there have been days where running felt difficult, both physically and emotionally. But every single time I put my trainers on, I reminded myself why I was doing this. Knowing that every mile completed was helping support families going through baby loss is what kept pushing me forward. This challenge became so much more than just exercise. It gave me purpose during one of the hardest chapters of my life. It gave me time to think, time to heal, and in so many ways, helped me slowly find moments of peace within everything that happened. As emotional as this final run felt, it also felt like the closing of a chapter. Not forgetting, and not moving on, but moving forward. Carrying everything I’ve been through with me, while finally feeling like I can breathe again and slowly find myself again too. I carried my baby with me through every single mile, and I always will 🤍 I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported me, donated, shared my posts, or followed along throughout this journey. Your kindness and support has meant more than I can put into words. Knowing that the money raised will go towards helping families through one of the most difficult times in their lives makes every single step feel so meaningful, and I’ll always be grateful to Sands for the support they give to so many families. Thank you again for being part of this journey with me 🧡💜

Running with purpose 🧡

Thursday 21st May
Yesterday I completed my longest run so far, 11k 🧡💜 As difficult as some runs can feel physically and emotionally, every single step reminds me why I’m doing this. Every mile completed is helping support families going through baby loss, and thinking about that is what pushes me forward every time I run. This challenge has become so much more than just exercise for me. It’s given me purpose during a really difficult time and helped me slowly find moments of peace and strength again. I also carry my baby with me through every run. Some days are harder than others, but knowing I’m doing this in their memory, while hopefully helping other families feel less alone, means more than I can put into words. Thank you so much to everyone supporting me and following my journey so far 🧡💜

My first run 🧡💜

Saturday 2nd May
Yesterday I did my first run.

It wasn’t far, and it wasn’t fast, but it felt like a really important step. I’ve been focusing on listening to my body and gently pushing myself, without rushing anything. Right now, it’s not about pace or distance, it’s about showing up and taking things one step at a time.

As I was running, I found myself thinking about why I’m doing this. This challenge is more than just the miles, it’s about supporting families who are going through something incredibly difficult, and knowing they’re not alone.

I also couldn’t help but think that I would have been around four and a half months pregnant by now. That thought comes with a mix of emotions, but it also reminds me why this means so much to me.

This run felt like a small but meaningful step forward, both physically and mentally. I’m proud of myself for getting out there, and I’m looking forward to building on this, one run at a time.

Thank you to everyone who is supporting me along the way 🤍

One step at a time 🧡💜

Saturday 2nd May

I wanted to write a little update as I start this journey.

Sadly, we lost our baby at 12 weeks. It’s been a difficult time, but I’ve been focusing on healing, both physically and mentally, and slowly finding my way back to feeling like myself again.

One thing that’s really stood out to me is how important support is during times like this. Knowing there are organisations like Sands that support families through baby loss means so much, and it’s something I didn’t fully understand until now.

In May, I’ll be taking on the Sands 50k challenge. This feels like a really positive step for me, something to focus on, something to work towards, and a way to turn a difficult experience into something meaningful.

I’ll be logging all of my activity along the way, so you can follow my progress throughout the month. Whether it’s a short walk or building back up to running again, every step feels important right now.
