I’m running the length of Marathon for families facing baby loss
I’ve committed to completing 26.2miles for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.
Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.
Thank you.

Baby Loss Awareness Week (9–15 October) is a time for people across the
baby loss community and beyond to come together, remember our much-loved
and missed babies, and raise awareness of pregnancy and baby loss.
This year, in support of Sands, I will be taking on the Chester MBNA
Marathon on 11 October.
If you’d told me a few years ago that I’d be running a marathon, I
wouldn’t have believed you. I am certainly not a natural runner. For
most of my life, I have struggled with my weight and my relationship
with food, and running never came easily to me.
In 2022, after my third miscarriage, I decided to challenge myself by
running 5km to raise money for Ribbon Run (Sands). At the time, I
weighed around 15 stone and struggled through every step. It took me
almost 57 minutes on a treadmill tucked away in the corner of a gym.
Despite the challenge, I raised a few hundred pounds for a cause that
meant so much to me.
A few months later, after I had completely lost hope of ever having a
baby, I became pregnant.
Pregnancy after loss was filled with fear. I was constantly worrying:
Was there still a heartbeat? Was my baby growing as he should? I found
myself booking private scans whenever I could, simply for reassurance
and a little peace of months old, aam

In October 2025, during Baby Loss Awareness Week, I completed the Ribbon
Run Half Marathon in Manchester. This year, I am taking the next step
and attempting my biggest challenge yet: a full marathon.
I have no idea how my body will respond to running 26.2 miles, but I do
know why I’m doing it.
I am running in memory of the babies who are no longer here, in support
of families affected by pregnancy and baby loss, and in hope for those
who are still waiting for their rainbow.
If you are able to donate, no matter how small the amount, I would be
incredibly grateful. Every donation helps Sands continue their vital
work supporting bereaved families and raising awareness of baby loss.
