I’m running 100k in May for families facing baby loss

I'm running 100k in May for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Thank you.

100km This May — Running for SANDS

Saturday 23rd May
This May, I’m running 100 kilometres to raise money for SANDS, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity.
It’s a distance that’s going to ask a lot of me — early mornings, tired legs, and more than a few moments where I’ll question why I signed up for it. But every kilometre has a purpose, and that purpose is bigger than any training session I’ve ever pushed through.
Why SANDS
SANDS supports anyone affected by the death of a baby. They’re there for families in the immediate aftermath of loss, through the grief that follows, and for as long as that support is needed. They fund research to save babies’ lives, they train healthcare professionals, and they make sure bereaved parents are never left to face the unimaginable alone.
The reason this cause stays with me is simple: baby loss is far more common than most people realise, and yet it’s something we so rarely talk about. So many families carry that grief quietly, often without the words or the space to share it. That silence can make an already devastating experience even more isolating.
Running 100k won’t change that overnight. But raising money, and being open about why, is a small way of helping families feel seen — and of making sure the support SANDS provides keeps reaching the people who need it.
The Challenge
The plan is 100 kilometres across the month of May. I kicked things off with a half marathon at Seven Sisters — a beautiful, brutal stretch of coastline that felt like the right place to begin something that means this much.
From here it’s about chipping away at the distance, week by week, run by run, until I get there. As a coach I spend my days helping other people set goals and stay accountable to them. This is me putting my money where my mouth is, with a goal that matters more than a personal best.
How You Can Help
If you’ve read this far, thank you. The single most powerful thing you can do is donate — whatever you can spare.
No amount is too small. Every single contribution goes towards supporting families through the very hardest days of their lives, and towards a future where fewer families have to face that loss at all.
If you’re able to give, please use the donation button on this page. And if you can’t, simply sharing this with someone who might is a real help too.
Thank you for being part of this with me. It genuinely means more than you know.
