I’m running 50k in May for families facing baby loss

I'm running 50k in May for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Thank you.

Why am I doing this...again?

Sunday 26th Apr
I am taking part in a 50k run through May on behalf of SANDS. SANDs complete amazing work with families after pregnancy and baby loss and are working hard to help ensure families get to bring much loved and wanted babies home. This will be my second fundraiser for SANDS, having completed the 56k run in February.

Baby loss, at any gestation is one of the most upsetting and vulnerable moments a woman and her family can experience. Aftercare and support is vitally important and yet today still not enough is being done by our health care services to support women, let alone sign post them for the support after loss.
I was diagnosed with PTSD in March 2025 after a horrific miscarriage and awful medical care from loosing my baby boy Freddie in June 2024. In the lead up loosing my baby, I was admitted into hospital on 3 occasions plus attended hospital multiple times as a day patient. In that time I suffered multiple heamorrages as a result of a subchoronic heamotoma, a common pregnancy complication, however my heamotoma grew extremely large resulting in significant blood loss and caused a significant risk to my own life and eventually resulted in me loosing my baby. I was discharged home after emergency surgery with no support, despite having suffered a loss and the added weight of trauma from my experience. I wish someone at that time signposted me to support services, instead I was left processing a lot of trauma on my own for 8 months until I received TF-CBT and my counsellor signposted me to SANDS, which helped me hugely in processing my loss.

Any donations would be much appreciated, but a share to raise awareness of SANDS as a charity is also HUGE! It could help someone reach out for support that you may not even realise needs it.
