I’m running 50k in May for families facing baby loss

I'm running 50k in May for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Running for the babies I never got to hold

Thursday 14th May
This month, I’m doing something completely outside of my comfort zone — I’m running 50k to raise money for Sands.

I’m a mum of two, but my journey to motherhood and hasn’t been easy. Along the way, I experienced the heartbreaking loss of babies I never got to hold. Like so many others, I carried a lot of that pain quietly while trying to keep going every day.

Baby loss and fertility struggles can feel incredibly isolating, and the emotional impact stays with you long after the moment has passed. Over time, I’ve also struggled with depression and anxiety, and recently I realised I need to start doing something for both my physical and mental health — even if it scares me.

So here I am.

I know absolutely nothing about running. I’m not a runner, and honestly, the idea of completing 50k in one month feels overwhelming. But this challenge is about so much more than distance. It’s about healing, pushing myself beyond fear, and doing something meaningful for a cause that supports families through some of the darkest moments of their lives.

We do not have to face that pain alone.

My goal is to raise £175 for this incredible charity, and every donation — no matter how small — would mean so much to me. Your support will not only help Sands continue their work, but it will also help keep me motivated through every difficult kilometre.
