I’m running 50k in May for families facing baby loss

I'm running 50k in May for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

For Mae

Friday 24th Apr
When my Mae passed away, I had 3 days with her in a cuddle cot - I raised nearly £5000 to go towards them because they are absolutely it Ely essential for anyone that goes through baby loss. When I left Southampton hospital 8 years ago to come back to the Island without my baby, a nurse was supposed to be at the door when I left Mae in a room on her own to go on to her next journey (the chapel of rest)…no one was there and I remember to this day the feeling of having to ask someone to be with my baby, it totally broke me - there needs to be more awareness and support for grieving families. Grieving parents find themselves on the same ward as pregnant women and it’s heartbreaking. I got a text from a health visitor asking how Mae was one week after her passing. This shouldn’t happen. 

I will forever talk about her and I will forever be the voice for a grieving parent 🩷 be it running 50k through May or a silent hug
