April Jogging Challenge

I’ve committed to the April Jogging Challenge for families facing baby loss

I’ve committed to the April Jogging Challenge for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Thank you.

Why are we here??

Sunday 8th Mar
Sometimes you sign up for something that pushes you out of your comfort zone. For me, that’s running. Anyone who knows me will know that I’m definitely not a natural runner. But this time, the reason behind it means far more than the challenge itself.
I’ve entered a fundraising event to support Sands, the charity that supports families affected by the loss of a baby. It’s a cause that means a great deal to me and my family, because it’s something my wife and I have experienced personally.
Before we were lucky enough to welcome our beautiful baby boy into the world, our journey to parenthood was not a straightforward one. Along the way, we went through multiple miscarriages. Each one brought its own heartbreak, confusion and emotional toll. It’s an experience that many people go through, yet it often feels incredibly isolating at the time.
What we didn’t fully realise during those moments was that there are organisations like Sands that exist to support families through the loss of a baby. They provide guidance, emotional support, resources and communities for people navigating one of the most difficult experiences imaginable.
Looking back, I now understand just how important that support can be. When you’re going through loss, having someone to talk to, somewhere to turn, or simply knowing you’re not alone can make an enormous difference.
That’s one of the reasons I’ve decided to take on this challenge and raise money. I want to do something that helps ensure families who face this kind of loss know that support is there for them. No one should feel like they have to go through something like that alone.
By raising funds for Sands, I hope to play a small part in helping the charity continue the incredible work they do — supporting bereaved families, improving care, and raising awareness around baby loss.
And yes, it also means I’ll be putting on my running shoes and getting out there… which for me is probably a challenge in itself! But if a few miles of running can help raise awareness and support families who need it, then it’s more than worth it.
This journey means a lot to me and my family. If sharing our story helps even one person realise that support is available, or encourages someone else to talk about their experience, then it’s a step in the right direction.
Because behind every statistic is a family, a story, and a baby who will always be loved and remembered. 💙
