2026 Run 50k in September

I’m running 50k in September for families facing baby loss

I'm running 50k in September for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that fewer families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Thank you.

My Updates

We Haven't Even Started Yet! 🏃‍♂️

Monday 31st Aug
September hasn't even started and somehow we've already hit the fundraising target!

A massive thank you to everyone who's donated, shared the page or given me some encouragement so far. I genuinely wasn't expecting to reach the target before I'd even run the first kilometre, so the support has been brilliant.

There is, however, one slight problem with everyone being so generous...

I actually have to run the bloody 50K now.

Starting tomorrow, I'll be working my way through 50 kilometres across September in support of Sands. I'll keep the page updated along the way so you can follow my progress — including the point where the initial enthusiasm inevitably turns into me questioning every decision that led me here.

Reaching the target early doesn't mean we're finished either. The fundraising page is still open, so if you'd still like to donate, every extra pound raised is a bonus and goes towards an incredibly worthwhile cause.

And if donating isn't possible, sharing the page is just as appreciated. The more people we can reach, the better.

For now though, thank you again. We've already achieved the fundraising goal before September has even begun.

Next target: 50 kilometres.

Wish my legs luck. They're going to need it.

50km for Sands

Saturday 22nd Aug
This September, I’m taking on a 50km challenge for Sands, and this one is particularly personal to me.

Last year, my fiancée and I experienced a miscarriage.

Baby loss is one of those things you hear about, but until it happens to you, it’s difficult to understand what that loss actually feels like. You start imagining a future, making plans and thinking about what life might look like — and suddenly that future is gone.

It’s something that has stayed with both of us, and it's the reason that when I saw the opportunity to take on this challenge for Sands, I signed up.

Sands supports people affected by pregnancy and baby loss, as well as working to improve bereavement care and help save babies' lives. Knowing first-hand how much these experiences can affect people made it a charity I genuinely wanted to support.

So throughout September, I’ll be completing 50km for Sands.

For me, the challenge isn't about breaking records or putting in the fastest times. It's about taking something difficult from our own lives and using it to hopefully do a little bit of good for somebody else going through the same thing.

I’ll be posting updates as the kilometres add up.

If you can donate, thank you. If you can't, sharing the page or supporting the challenge means just as much.

50km. One month. For Sands, and for every family who has experienced a loss.
