April Jogging Challenge

I’ve committed to the April Jogging Challenge for families facing baby loss

I’ve committed to the April Jogging Challenge for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Thank you.

My Updates

Still keeping on keeping on

Tuesday 21st Apr
In late luteal phase brain fog mode so please excuse the quietness. I haven't stopped the running! Managed to clock a PB on park run on Saturday and hit the treadmill for the first run of the week today.

Final run of week 2 - done!

Saturday 11th Apr
This was my first time ever running the entire park run. I usually stop after two laps as that equates to 30 mins of running for me. However, after the race last Sunday I've proven to myself that I can run a 5k so it did just that. Albeit at an absolutely glacial pace. There was only a handful of people behind me. BUT! Its still a park run PB. My run time was marginally slower than race day but the route of Roundhay park run is extraordinarily hilly so still a fan effort. Forever beating the people on the couch as they say :) time for an epsom salt bath now and a well earned rest for a couple of days!

Week 2 run 2 in the bag

Friday 10th Apr
It was a late one last night, getting off the treadmill 2 minutes before the gym closed, but I got it done! That's another 4k locked down :) Lol at how sweaty I get!

Week 2 - run 1 done!

Tuesday 7th Apr
4.13km clocked today and it was a slog after the race on Sunday. However, a win is a win so I'm taking it!

5K run done - a PB!

Sunday 5th Apr
Really chuffed to have cleared all 5km at a run. Amazing how much a race can propel you forwards. Feeling confident about smashing that 30K target now.

Run 1 done - 5km in the bag + a bit about me

Thursday 2nd Apr
Proud to have locked in my first 5km for this April jogging challenge. This was a bit of a training run for the 5km race I signed up to which takes place on Easter Sunday! For a bit of context, I'm pretty new to running. I graduated from the couch to 5k at the end of January, and have been running gently 3x a week since then. Realistically, I'm not covering 5k distances when I run as I've been running for time (30 mins) so for the most part I've been achieving 3.5-4.0km. Having said that, I'm going to try my hardest to push for an additional 5/10 mins on race day. It all counts towards the 30km goal either way :).

Supporting people experiencing baby loss this April

Monday 23rd Mar
Spring has sprung and with it we're surrounded by new life. The birds are nesting and the flowers are blooming. It should be a joyous time where we all get to enjoy the sensory delights to season has to bring. However, some people are suffering and struggling, and potentially hiding the worst news imaginable right now. They have lost their baby.

There are so many circumstances that can make this awful situation look and feel different to everyone that experiences it. But one thing that unites them all is that they are not alone. And charities like Sands are there to hold your hand and offer support in a way that may be hard to find in our personal and professional networks.

It can be such an isolating experience so it's so important that Sands and organisations like them exist. Please consider sponsoring me as I run 30K through April with the mums and dads of angel babies in my heart to keep me going.

Thank you.
