Sands Knitting Challenge

I’m taking on the Sands Knitting Challenge 💜

I’ve committed to knitting a blanket for a very loved and much missed baby.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Thank you.

Completed 1 blanket and started a second

Friday 27th Mar
I completed my first blanket on 15th February so it took under 1 month. I gave myself a little break so I could knit my youngest daughter a jumper for Easter. I've now started a second blanket and look forward to reaching my fundraising target.
What I love about SANDS is that this fundraiser helps bereaved families through sending them a memory box including handmade blankets, many made by people such as myself who've experienced the tragedy of baby loss. In addition, the funds raised help with research, counselling and support for these bereaved families.
I hate that anyone would ever experience what I went through but at the same time I want to ensure that they benefit from as much support as possible.

If you're able to contribute towards the fundraiser then please do so. Any amount is a blessing.

Here's how far I've got

Made a start

Friday 23rd Jan
Well, I've made a start and I reckon I'm about a quarter of the first blanket done. It's actually quite therapeutic and relaxing.
The main thing though is that I'm thinking about who this blanket and memory box will go to. I hope and pray it brings them some level of comfort. Baby loss is so painful so I'm also glad that I've already started fundraising and just under half of my target has been donated. This means vital funds not just for support but also for research to prevent baby loss.
