How do I sign up?
To sign up to the challenge, register for your knitting kit pack here.
When you register, your fundraising page will be automatically set up for you
What will I receive in my pack?
Once you register for the challenge and set up a fundraising page we will send you your knitting pack. Please note it takes up to 10 working days to be delivered. The pack will include 2 x 100g white wool, pattern, knitting needles and a tote bag for you to store everything in.
Is there an entry fee?
Yes it's £25 to enter the challenge.
Why does the Sands memory blanket need to be in white?
Sadly, there is great need for our Memory Boxes which go to bereaved parents from all walks of life and from different backgrounds and beliefs. So, to ensure that Memory Boxes are appropriate for every baby, we only use white blankets as they are a neutral colour. In some cases where a baby has died early in pregnancy, parents do not know the gender of their baby, and different colours can have different cultural significances.

Do I need to knit the blanket in a certain amount of days?
No you can do this challenge at your own pace. You can knit one blanket or may choose to knit more.
Can I crochet a blanket instead of knit?
You can absolutely take part by crocheting. There is a crotchet pattern available on our website https://www.sands.org.uk/get-involvedfundraisingfundraising-resources/crochet-pattern
*Please note that the pack purchased as part of the challenge contains knitting needles and knitting instructions only, but we would love for you to take part if you have your own crotchet tools 💜🧡
Are the patterns UK or US terminology?
Both the crochet and knitting patterns are UK terminology.
