I’m taking on the Sands Knitting Challenge 💜

I’ve committed to knitting a blanket for a very loved and much missed baby.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

It's taking me a while but I'm finally over half way and decreasing stitches. It feels like a great way to knit a square because now it's downhill all the way! I do want to do the lacy border though because it will look nicer and it will definitely be a challenge for me.  Keep watching for my progress, and thank you all for donating. ❤️

sands Knitting Challenge

When I came across this challenge in aid of sands it called out to me.  One of my grandsons had recently asked me to teach him to knit and in doing so reminded me how much I used to love to knit. It has been many, many  years since I did any knitting, and this is definitely a challenge since most things I've knitted have never been completed! 

As a retired midwife sands was a charity I was all too well aware of.  Then a few years ago my own granddaughter was very sadly born sleeping and I saw the help and support they offered and gave my daughter on a much more personal level. So this challenge is a tiny thank you to sands for all the help and support they have given to families and their babies over the years.

I'm not asking for sponsorship but if you feel able to donate to this worthy charity because of my efforts, then I promise to finish whatever blanket I begin! And sands will be able to help even more parents and babies.
