We're taking part in this year's Sands Ribbon Run
Myself and Isla have committed to taking part in the Sands Ribbon Run at Heaton Park on 10th October, during Baby Loss Awareness Week (9–15 October). We’re running for every much‑loved baby sadly not here today, including our own — the little ones who were too special for this world.
This year has been one of the hardest of our lives. After experiencing two miscarriages, our family has felt the deep heartbreak, confusion, and silence that comes with pregnancy loss. It changes you. It stays with you. And it reminds you how many families walk this same painful path, often without the support or understanding they deserve.
We want to turn our grief into something meaningful. Something that helps others. Something that raises awareness, offers support, and reminds families that they are not alone.
Sands ensures that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die — and so fewer families experience the tragedy of losing their baby.
Right now it's just me and Isla but we would love for others to join us. Whether you’ve been personally affected by baby loss or simply want to stand beside families who have, you are warmly welcome.
We hope to make the day a moment of togetherness, remembrance, and hope.

- £20 Memory Box — could provide a bereaved family with a memory box to help create and keep safe precious and lasting memories of their baby.
- £35 Support Call — could answer a call from someone reaching out for support who has been through pregnancy loss or the death of a baby.
- £100 Sands Volunteer — could help ensure every hospital in the UK has a dedicated Sands volunteer to help healthcare professionals access training, guidance and support.
