I’m running 50k in September for families facing baby loss

I'm running 50k in September for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that fewer families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Following three recurrent miscarriages and being told that I was ‘technically fine’  - I did a deep dive of the current research at the time. Luckily for me, a private fertility expert agreed that it likely was not just ‘bad luck’ and I was able to get a private (expensive) prescription for medication that was in clinical trials at the time…and along came Ellis. Then with Rose a kind GP agreed to prescribe for us through the NHS. Sadly, I could not get hold of the prescription for a pregnancy between Rose and Gabriel and this turned into another (fourth miscarriage)….which in my geeky brain was a bit like a reversal study that backed up the fact that something within the concoction of medication was helping me to stay pregnant each time. Kind GP returns from holiday in time to prescribe medication again for baby number four and Gabriel is born. Without this, I highly doubt I would have Ellis, Rose and Gabriel and know that I am incredibly lucky🍀 to be a Mum of four.

More research is needed to help prevent pregnancy and baby loss. Without the research that’s been done so far…three of my favourite humans wouldn’t be here.
