Cesarean Scar Ectopic Pregnancy Awareness 💔
Tuesday 21st AprCesarean Scar Ectopic Pregnancy Awareness 💔
I’m doing this to raise awareness of a type of ectopic pregnancy not commonly spoken about.
I left a private scan thinking I was about to start the process of losing a pregnancy and waited a few days for a medical appointment, itself this was hard enough to deal with.
Then I got to the hospital — and they found a heartbeat, even more confusion to the mix. With a burst of relief came another shock. The confusion, upset and range of emotions were hard to deal with.
The pregnancy had implanted into my previous C-section scar — a cesarean scar ectopic pregnancy. A condition I had never even heard of, but one that can be life-threatening.
In a matter of hours, I went from being told there was no life, preparing for a termination to being told there was a heartbeat but couldn’t survive — and that continuing the pregnancy could seriously risk my life. I needed an emergency operation.
No one prepares you for that.
No one tells you this is even a possibility after a C-section.
This isn’t talked about enough, I had no awareness about this after my c section.
This isn’t rare enough to ignore. It isn’t dramatic to speak up. It’s necessary.
I’m sharing this because awareness could be the difference between early diagnosis and a life-threatening emergency.
Because I wish I had known 🤍
