I’m walking 100K in September for Clara
In June 2026, Clara Amelia was born sleeping.
Clara was the longed for first baby, grandbaby, great-grandbaby and niece in both of our families. She was already so deeply loved, so eagerly awaited, and had brought so much excitement and happiness before she was even born.
Nothing can truly prepare a family for the heartbreak of losing a baby so close to birth. The hopes, dreams, and plans for Clara's future were suddenly replaced by unimaginable grief. Although Clara was with us for such a short time, she will always be a treasured part of our family, and she will never be forgotten.
We are taking part in this fundraising walk in Clara's memory and to support Sands, the charity that supports anyone affected by the death of a baby and works tirelessly to improve pregnancy and baby loss care and to save babies' lives.
The support that Sands provides to bereaved parents and families is invaluable. They offer understanding, compassion, and practical help during the darkest moments, while also funding research, campaigning for better care, and working to reduce the number of babies who die during pregnancy, birth, and shortly after birth.
No family should have to experience the pain of saying goodbye before they've had the chance to say hello. While we cannot change what happened to Clara, we hope that by raising money for Sands we can help other families receive the support they need and contribute to a future where fewer families experience this devastating loss.
Every step we take is for Clara. Every donation, no matter how big or small, is a way of remembering her and helping other families facing the unimaginable.
