I’m swimming in November for families facing baby loss

I’ve committed to swimming this November for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Hi Everyone,
 
I’m currently raising money for a cause that’s very close to my heart — helping to reduce the heartbreaking number of babies who die each year and support the families who need it most.
 
This incredible charity supported me through one of the most difficult times in my life, after experiencing two miscarriages in the same year. I truly don’t know where I’d be today without their compassion and guidance. On the day of my surgery, I was given a baby memory box, something I will treasure for the rest of my life, inside is a candle, support cards, and 2 beautiful hand crocheted teddy bears laying in a blanket.
 
 I just want to say that if anyone ever needs someone to talk to about their own journey or know more about mine, I’m here to listen, share, and support in any way I can, I am incredibly open about my experiences.
 
The photos I’ve shared are of Wilford Hill Crematorium, where my baby was cremated. It’s a beautiful, peaceful place where I, and other parents, can go to pay our respects.
 
You might also notice my tattoo, which reads:
“An Angel in the book of life wrote down our babies’ birth,
and whispered as she closed the book, ‘Too beautiful for the Earth.’”
 
This fundraiser means so much to me, and any donation — no matter how small — will make a difference and help other families receive the same support that I had. 
 
I am currently swimming 10k throughout November and completed my first 60 lengths last night.

My Journey

Thursday 6th Nov
Having suffered from two miscarriages in the same year, this charity is very close to my heart. 

First baby loss was at 6 weeks

Second baby loss was at the 12 week scan (though it was around 14 weeks due to not being able to attend the appointment)

Unfortunately I was told there was no heartbeat and they stopped growing at 8 weeks. Everything else continued to grow as normal so I still had the little bump and sickness. 

I had to have surgery to remove and unfortunately had to have a second surgery 4 weeks later due to the hospital missing half of it .. 

It’s charities like these that helped me in my darkest times. And there are thousands of parents that need them as much as I did.
