For Toby
Thursday 26th MarIn August 2019, we experienced the unimaginable loss of our firstborn son, Toby. It’s something no parent should ever have to face, yet baby loss affects far too many families. With the right care, our little boy would be here with us today.
In the months and years that followed, I found vital support through Sands. Their work, compassion, and community helped me navigate the darkest times. Through them, I met some incredible people who truly understand this kind of loss, and who will remain lifelong friends. Together, we’ve supported one another through moments that felt impossible to face.
As Toby’s 7th birthday approaches, I’ve set myself a personal challenge in his memory, to honour him and all the babies who are no longer with us, while also pushing myself beyond what I once thought I wasn’t capable of. For some, this challenge might seem small, but just a few months ago, I couldn’t run for more than a minute.
This is for Toby. And for every family who carries a loss like ours.
