2026 Ribbon Run Virtual

I’m taking part in Sands Ribbon Run

I’ve committed to taking part in Sands Ribbon Run which takes place during Baby Loss Awareness Week (9-15 October) for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Thank you.

£20 - could provide a bereaved family with a memory box to help create and keep safe precious and lasting memories of their baby.

£35 - could answer a call from someone reaching out for support who has been through pregnancy loss or the death of a baby.

£100 - could help ensure every hospital in the UK has a dedicated Sands volunteer to help healthcare professionals access our training, guidance and support.

Arlo’s Army

Thursday 6th Aug

Our beautiful baby boy, Arlo, was born at 23 weeks and was born sleeping with the angels. Although his time with us was far too short, he will forever be loved, remembered, and a part of our family.

Our journey began to change at our 20-week scan, when doctors found abnormalities with Arlo’s development. After further investigations, he was diagnosed with agenesis of the corpus callosum, a condition where the part of the brain that connects the two hemispheres does not develop properly.

We were referred to St Mary’s Hospital for further testing, including genetic investigations, in the hope of finding answers. The results revealed that Arlo had an incredibly rare genetic condition, estimated to affect around one in a million people. We were told that the condition carried a very poor prognosis and would result in profound, life-limiting disabilities.

No parent ever imagines having to hear those words or face the decisions that followed. Throughout our pregnancy, we held onto hope while trying to prepare for the heartbreaking reality we had been given.

At 23 weeks, our precious Arlo was born sleeping. Despite never hearing his cry, he filled our hearts with a love that will last a lifetime. He was perfect in every way, and we will cherish every moment we had with him.
