I’m running 50k in September for families facing baby loss

For my baby 🤍

In September, I’ll be taking on the challenge of running 50K for every much-loved baby sadly not here today — and for me, this run is deeply personal.

Earlier this year, I experienced the heartbreak of losing my baby through miscarriage. There are no words that can truly describe what it feels like to lose a baby you had already imagined a future with. The excitement, the plans, the love, the little life you had started to picture — suddenly gone.

I should be counting down the months, imagining who my baby would have been and preparing for their arrival. Instead, I’m learning how to carry the loss of someone I never got the chance to meet, but who I will always love and remember.

Pregnancy loss can feel incredibly lonely. Sometimes the world carries on as normal, while inside, you are grieving a whole future that no longer exists. My baby mattered. My pregnancy mattered. And the loss matters too.

That’s why I’ve chosen to run 50K for Sands.

Sands supports anyone affected by the loss of a baby, making sure families receive the compassion, understanding and support they deserve during one of the most devastating times in their lives. They also campaign for change, provide training to healthcare professionals and fund research to help prevent more families experiencing this heartbreak.

This 50K will be difficult, but I want every step to be for my baby — and for every other baby who should be here, but sadly isn’t.
