We’re running 300 km in February for families who’ve lost their babies

In May 2021 we lost our first son, Bo, in the third trimester. It is impossible to ever put into words how much that broke us and how tender the pain of missing him will always be.

At the time, we didn’t know anyone who’d lost a baby or have any idea how to handle what came next. We were guided by the kindness of midwives who provided us with a memory box, through Sands.

Sands is a charity that supports families when they need it most, and work to improve care and fund research so that fewer parents have to experience this heartbreak in the future.

Given to grieving parents in hospital, each Sands box helps families create precious memories and keepsakes, such as hand and footprints, a candle, a soft toy, a story to read, an SD card for taking photographs and a place to store mementos.

For many parents, like us, these become the only physical memories they will ever have of their baby. Every £20 donation helps provide a Sands memory box to a family whose baby has died before, during, or shortly after birth.

To help provide more support to grieving families, Chris an I are running 300 km in Feb (some miles with Bo’s younger brothers in the buggy too) in hopes of raising £300 for 15 boxes for 15 parents who experience the worst like we did.

Thank you for considering donating. Your support helps Sands ensure no family has to face this loss without compassion, dignity and care.
