I’m running 50k in May for families facing baby loss
I'm running 50k in May for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.
Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.
Thank you.

My Updates
For Flynn
Sunday 3rd MayTwelve years ago this June, our family experienced a loss that quietly reshaped everything. My nephew was born sleeping. A life so deeply loved, never got the chance to begin outside the womb — but his impact has been lasting in ways that are hard to put into words.
Grief doesn’t move on a schedule. It softens in places, deepens in others, and often shows up when you least expect it. But alongside that grief, there has always been love — enduring, unconditional, and very much alive. This year, I wanted to honour that love in a way that felt meaningful, intentional, and just a little bit challenging.
So this May, I’m running 50 kilometres.
Not all at once (I’m not that brave), but over the course of the month — step by step, mile by mile — in memory of my nephew. Every run is for him. For the moments he never got, and for the family who have carried him in their hearts every single day since.
I’m also doing this to raise money for Sands, an organisation that continues to support families through the unimaginable pain of losing a baby. Their work provides comfort, understanding, and a sense of community at a time when many feel completely alone. For so many families, that support makes an enormous difference.
No one ever expects to need that kind of help. But when they do, Sands is there — offering guidance, resources, and compassion without judgement. Supporting them means supporting countless families navigating grief, just like ours did.
Running 50k is, in many ways, a small gesture. But it’s something I can do. A way to turn remembrance into action. A way to honour a life that mattered — and still does.
If you’re able to donate, share, or even just take a moment to reflect with us this May, it truly means a lot. Every contribution helps Sands continue their vital work, and every step I take is with purpose.
For my nephew. Always remembered. Always loved.
