Why I’m taking on the Sands 2K a Day Challenge
Monday 19th JanOnce upon a (brief) time, running used to be a big part of my day to day. Last year, it gave me structure, headspace, and a sense of progress, all things that really matter for both physical and mental health. But like it does for many people, life got busy, routines slipped, and the KMs I used to clock up faded away.
Taking on Sands’ 2K a Day challenge this February feels like the perfect way to start that journey again.
Although I haven’t been directly impacted by baby loss, friends, co-workers and beyond have. Seeing the support they received from Sands, and how much that support matters, has made me deeply appreciate the work the charity does for families navigating something truly heart-breaking. If putting on my running shoes each day can raise awareness, raise some money, and help Sands continue that work, it feels like a simple way to contribute to something incredibly meaningful.
For me, this challenge is about more than hitting that distance goal and just getting fitter. It’s about reconnecting with the benefits of running, rebuilding those healthy habits, and channelling that energy into a cause that genuinely helps people in their darkest moments.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, and for supporting Sands, and those who rely on them.

Go Teddy, go!! 🫶🏻
