I’m running 2k a day in Febuary for families facing baby loss

I’ve committed to running 2k a day this February for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Monday 19th Jan

After a traumatic birth in September 2024, our baby girl was taken from us almost immediately, without any contact. The fear of losing her in those moments was overwhelming and unlike anything I had ever known. She was born very unwell and later diagnosed with meningitis.

Those early days were filled with uncertainty, fear, and a helplessness that is impossible to put into words. Watching your newborn fight for their life is something no parent is ever prepared for.

Thanks to the extraordinary neonatal team and the sheer strength of our beautiful baby girl, we were incredibly lucky. Two weeks later, we brought her home — happy, healthy, and so very loved. But not every family gets to take their baby home.

This fundraiser is for the babies loved forever, for the parents carrying unimaginable grief, and for the support services that offer comfort during the darkest moments.

By supporting this cause, we are helping to privide vital support to breaved families, create tools and training for professionals to ensure families get the care they need, and save babies' lives through research, training and campaigning.
