Running for a Cause Close to Our Hearts

Some causes are important to you because you believe in them.

Others are important because they have touched your own life.

For my wife and me, the Ribbon Run falls firmly into the second category.

I’m taking part in the Ribbon Run to raise money and awareness for a cause that has affected both of us personally, as well as other members of our family. It is something that has brought a level of heartache that no parent should ever have to experience.

There are some experiences in life that are incredibly difficult to put into words. You can carry on with everyday life, go to work, look after your family and try to keep moving forward, but some things never truly leave you.

That is why this fundraising event means so much to us.

No parent should have to experience that heartache

Becoming a parent is supposed to be filled with excitement, hope and dreams for the future.

The thought of losing that future, or experiencing something that means you don’t get the journey you had imagined with your child, is something I wouldn’t wish on anyone.

And while we have been fortunate to have wonderful people around us, the reality is that families can sometimes find themselves facing unimaginable circumstances.

The emotional impact can be huge, and it isn’t always something that other people can see.

That is one of the reasons I want to support the Ribbon Run. It’s not simply about completing a run or raising a certain amount of money. It’s about standing alongside families who have experienced something incredibly difficult and helping support the work that makes a difference to them.

Why I’m asking for your support

I’m not someone who normally asks people for money, but this is a cause that is genuinely close to our hearts.

If you are able to make a donation, no matter how small, it would mean a great deal to us.

And if donating isn’t possible, that’s absolutely fine. Sharing my fundraising page could be just as valuable. You never know who might see it, connect with the cause and decide to support it.

Every donation and every share helps raise awareness and shows families who have been through this that they are not alone.

Doing something positive

We can’t change the experiences that have already happened to us or our family.

What we can do is try to turn something incredibly painful into something positive.

By taking part in the Ribbon Run, I hope that we can help raise money, awareness and support for other families who may be facing their own difficult journey.

For us, this isn’t just another fundraising challenge.

It’s personal.

It’s for the parents who have experienced a heartache that no parent should ever have to endure.

It’s for the families who continue to carry that loss.

And it’s for the hope that, through better support and understanding, no family has to face those difficult moments feeling alone.
