I’m taking part in Sands Ribbon Run

I’ve committed to taking part in Sands Ribbon Run which takes place during Baby Loss Awareness Week (9-15 October) for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Thank you.

£20 - could provide a bereaved family with a memory box to help create and keep safe precious and lasting memories of their baby.

£35 - could answer a call from someone reaching out for support who has been through pregnancy loss or the death of a baby.

£100 - could help ensure every hospital in the UK has a dedicated Sands volunteer to help healthcare professionals access our training, guidance and support.

Alyssa's Star

Wednesday 29th Jul
My Daughter Alyssa Star was born on the 26th March 2007
I have struggled with the guilt since that day and went down a path she would of been disgusted with which nearly came to a point where I tried to join her
It always felt weird to me that in my head I wasn't strong enough to go through with it, I managed to bury it deep inside myself and though I could get on with my life
After a work place accident were I nearly joined her through no fault of my own it all came back to the surface in a bad way and the thoughts about joining her came back into my mind
I Have 3 children now that I love but I made the decision to pull away from them in case I got the found the strength to do what I could get out of my thoughts ( I haven't spoken or seen my kids properly for 3 years now )
I wrote Alyssa a letter and placed it with her at Christmas not to ask for her forgiveness as I still don't think I deserve that but to apologies and ask for help
I never thought it would come in the way that it did
one of my best mates in the world, who tried to help me in anyway that he could and truly the one person who still to this day knows every think that I was feeling and thinking lost his baby in nearly the same situation that happened to me
what made it hurt so much and made me want to change and be a better person was he never told me what he was going through I found out by 3rd party
I realise I had turned into someone who couldn't support my friends and family and that was a massive wake up call to me
I am trying to be different and working on my problems so that one day I will be able to be there for my kids and be a dad they could be proud of, and be a shoulder to cry on for my friends and family when or if they ever need it

I am taking part to be part of something bigger than myself and to join a community of people that have been through something similar to me

I hope I can do Alyssa proud and raise money to help and fund support for many years to come

lets go everyone
