I’m running 2k a day in February in memory of our daughter Hallie and families facing baby loss

This February, I am running 2km every day, with my family joining in along the way — walking, cycling their bikes, riding their trikes, or even sleeping in their pram. I’m doing this in memory of our much-loved daughter Hallie and other babys who are sadly not here today, and to help support families who are walking this heartbreaking path.
Toni and I lost our daughter Hallie in 2021 and  there are no words that can truly describe the pain of losing a child — it changes you in ways you never expect, and some days simply surviving felt impossible. In those early days, we were carried by the love and support of our family and friends. They held us up when we couldn’t stand on our own.
Today, we are incredibly grateful to have Sophia, Hallie’s little sister. She doesn’t erase the pain, but she helps us heal in ways that feel gentle and real. Through her smiles, laughter, and the small everyday moments, she reminds us that it’s okay to feel joy again. She gives us purpose on the hardest days and helps us move forward while still holding Hallie close. Loving Sophia has taught us that grief and happiness can exist side by side, and that Hallie’s place in our hearts is forever.
We know how isolating and overwhelming this journey can be, and not every family has the support we were fortunate to receive. Sands is there when everything feels unbearable — offering compassion, understanding, and a lifeline when it’s needed most. They also work to improve care, train healthcare professionals, and fund vital research so fewer families have to experience this loss.
Every kilometre we move this February is for Hallie, and for every family walking this path. We hope to help others feel less alone through the darkest days. Any donation, no matter the size, truly means more than we can express. Thank you 🤍
