I’m walking 31 miles in May for families facing baby loss

I’ve committed to walking 31 miles in May for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and hea

lthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Thank you.

Why I Support Sands: A Personal Journey Through Baby Loss There are moments in life that change you forever. Losing a baby is one of those moments. It’s a pain no one should ever have to experience, yet far too many of us do. I never imagined I would be one of those people — someone who knows the silence that follows a loss, the questions that never have answers, and the ache that lingers in everyday life. When I went through baby loss, I felt incredibly alone. Even surrounded by love, it was hard to find the words to explain what I was feeling — and even harder to find people who truly understood. That’s when I discovered Sands, the Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society. Sands offered more than support — they offered understanding, compassion, and a place to grieve openly. They helped me realise that my grief was valid, that my baby mattered, and that I wasn’t alone in this painful journey. Supporting Sands has become deeply personal to me. Whether through fundraising, awareness, or simply sharing my story, I want to ensure that others walking this path can find the same comfort and community I did. I want every parent who experiences loss to know: your baby mattered. Your grief is real. And you are not alone. Sands works tirelessly to improve care for bereaved parents, fund research to reduce baby loss, and provide support for those who need it most. It’s a mission I believe in with all my heart, because I’ve lived through the kind of loss that makes that mission essential. If you’re reading this and you've experienced loss, I see you. If you know someone who has, hold space for them. And if you’re able, support the work Sands is doing — for every family like mine, and for every baby who is always remembered. #sandschallenge #sandscharity #jog #run #support #babylossawareness #stillbirth
