Run for our wee Alexander
I'm fundraising in aid of Sands, for every much-loved baby sadly not here today. I will be running 100km on 11/07/2026 with one of my closest friends as part of an event known as Race to the Stones in an effort to raise awareness, and money for Sands.
I've delayed setting this page up now for a number of months simply because it's been easier not to think about it. Unfortunately late last year, our wee Alexander didn't make it and passed away in the second trimester, but we were blessed with the opportunity to meet him and continue to hold a special place in our hearts for him.
Without sharing too many details, we were given some wonderful and incredibly special keepsakes from Sands during this difficult time and will forever cherish those keepsakes as we continue to muddle on.
Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Having spoken to several friends since this time about this, I have learned just how common this is which has been beneficial to know we are not alone and have a safe space.
Anything you are able to donate means so much, but a little thought or conversation is more than enough.
