I’m swimming in November for families facing baby loss

I’ve committed to swimming 22k this November for every much loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times.

Our Story

So, it was 2019, and we were five months into our amazing pregnancy. It had taken us five years to fall pregnant. WOW! How amazing. Such an exciting time, full of hope, love and dreams for our growing family.

Then, in the blink of an eye, at a scan, our lives changed forever. The dream we had held onto was suddenly taken away. The future we had imagined for our second child was no longer there. Instead, we were met with the devastating news that no heartbeat could be found.

The pain was profound, numbing and excruciating, all at the same time. Where do we go? What do we do?

I had to carry our baby for three days, knowing our little seed had passed away, because they couldn't book us in over the weekend. Imagine that.

I am doing this to try to raise awareness that this isn't just a routine procedure. This is a baby's life. It's my life, my husband's life and my daughter's life. It's the life and future we had dreamed of as a family.

Women and families deserve better care when it comes to losing a baby. They deserve compassion, understanding and proper support not just a leaflet and a procedure.
