I’m walking 100K in September for families facing baby loss
Hello everyone, I’m Robyn! 🩷
I have been a midwife for 13 years and a specialist midwife sonographer for 9 years. Pregnancy loss is something I sadly see regularly at work; sometimes weekly, or even daily. I have the privilege of supporting many families through some of the most heartbreaking moments in their lives. I am often the person called upon to perform the scan and deliver the devastating news that their baby has sadly died.
Sands is the UK’s leading pregnancy and baby loss charity which supports everyone touched by pregnancy loss or the death of a baby. Every day in the UK, 13 babies die shortly before, during or soon after birth and at least 1 in 6 of pregnancies end in miscarriage. Thousands of parents and families are experiencing the heartbreak of pregnancy and baby loss every year in the UK.
Sands campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby.
I have signed up to the challenge of walking 100K in September! As many of you know, as well as being a midwife - I am also a very lucky mum to two beautiful girls. Being a busy mum and and midwife means that leaving the house to complete this challenge will certainly be a challenge in itself!
