I’m running 2k a day in Febuary for families facing baby loss

I’ve committed to running 2k a day this February for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Thank you.

Why is this an important cause...

Friday 30th Jan

I am taking part in a 2k a day run for sands in February. Whilst 2k isn't a lot, me trying to fit this in my day is going to be tight, with raising two girls on my own.

Not many people know but in 2024 I suffered a horrific miscarriage. I was hospitalised in the weeks leading up to loosing my little boy due to suffering with a subchoronic hematoma which made me lose a horrific amount of blood quickly and without warning.
I was rushed to hospital in June 2024 after an extreme heamorrage at home which made me have a hypovalemic seizure. I have no idea how the baby survived at this point, but he held in there. But it happened over and over through the course of several weeks till I eventually lost the baby.
My experience and support after was awful and non existent. I never received any aftercare from the NHS and was failed by our maternity services. it wasn't till I fell pregnant with Evelyn did I finally receive counselling. My pregnancy was filled with extreme anxiety, nightmares and flashbacks of it all happening again. I was diagnosed with PTSD last year, only then did I get counselling but it was me who realised I needed support and had to find this myself. I wish someone had signposted me to sands at the time and maybe I would of got help a lot sooner. So I am fundraising for SANDS in February. It would mean a lot to me for any shares,  or even a small donation so that someone else like me can get the support they may need after pregnancy loss.
