I'm fundraising in aid of Sands, for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.
Every baby deserves the chance to come home.
This is a cause that is incredibly close to my heart. In 2020, my first baby was born prematurely at just 27 weeks, weighing only 1 kg after severe fetal growth restriction (FGR). Our little warrior fought bravely in the NICU for seven precious days before we had to say goodbye. Losing a child is a pain that never leaves you—it simply becomes a part of who you are.
Since then, supporting Sands has become something I do every year in memory of my baby and in honour of every family whose arms are empty but whose love for their child lives on forever.
I'm raising funds to support vital research into premature birth, FGR, and other causes of baby loss, while also helping Sands provide compassionate support to bereaved families when they need it most. I hope that through greater research and awareness, more babies can be given the chance to survive, and fewer parents will have to experience the heartbreak of saying goodbye far too soon.
Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby.
