Angel Baby
Sunday 30th AugIt’s been nearly 10 years since I had an ectopic pregnancy, and it’s been an emotional rollercoaster.
This year, I made the decision to have a hysterectomy, bringing an end to a journey for myself. It was a bittersweet decision, giving up a part of myself — your home.
Love has come into my life in so many different forms.
But I still feel the loss of being a mum. I still think about the ‘what ifs’. I light a candle on what would have been your birthday, the day after mine.
You were loved from the minute we knew you were there. We made plans for you. When we told your aunties, the excitement was immense. When we told your grandparents you were gone my heart was broken.
Time is not a healer. What time has given me is acceptance of the situation.
I don’t need to keep strong. I grieved in the way that felt right for me.
No, I didn’t want another one. No, I didn’t want to try again. And yes, I was devastated when you left. We wanted you only as our first baby.
No matter how traumatic the experience was, I feel blessed to have had a part of you inside my body. You will always be in my heart 🩷.
In September, I am walking 100K and raising money for SANDS. Every little bit counts, and I would be so grateful for your support.
My angel baby, walk beside me. 🤍
