100K in September for SANDS!

100 kilometres. One month. One cause that means so much.

This September, I’m walking 100 kilometres to raise money for SANDS – the stillbirth and neonatal death charity.

Behind every kilometre is a family who has experienced something no parent should ever have to go through — the loss of a baby.

Pregnancy and birth are supposed to be filled with excitement, hope and plans for the future, but for far too many families, that future changes in an instant. 

The loss of a baby can leave an unimaginable emptiness, and while the world around them continues, their world can feel like it has completely stopped.

SANDS supports families through some of the darkest moments of their lives. They provide information, support and a safe space for people who have experienced the devastating loss of a baby. They also work to improve care and raise awareness, so that families don't have to face their grief alone.

That is why, with every kilometre I walk, I’ll be thinking about those families. 
The parents who had already chosen a name. 
The families who had decorated a nursery. 
The people who had imagined the life they were going to have together & the babies who were loved deeply, even if their time in this world was heartbreakingly short.

So, throughout September, I’ll be putting one foot in front of the other and trying to turn every step into something positive.

100 kilometres for the babies who are missed.
100 kilometres for the parents who are grieving.
100 kilometres for the families learning to live with loss.
100 kilometres to support SANDS and the incredible work they do.
