We’re taking part in Sands Ribbon Run
We’ve committed to taking part in Sands Ribbon Run which takes place during Baby Loss Awareness Week (9-15 October) for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.
We’ve had such a hard time growing our family and although we’ve recently welcomed our perfect rainbow baby the loss of the babies before her is still very raw.
Our beautiful Ayla Iris started life inside as a twin but her twin passed at seven weeks old and stayed by her side until 24 weeks.
The day I was induced with Ayla was a year to the day that we lost the remaining twin the previous year. We found out about the vanishing twin when I was admitted to hospital poorly at ten weeks. It was a sad and bittersweet feeling knowing a baby had passed but the other baby was still ok. But then we sadly found out the remaining twin had passed at twelve weeks. The twins are so loved and so so missed.
We also had an early miscarriage when we were a lot younger, before we even knew about the baby we were finding out that they were lost.
The gravity of the losses is only just hitting now that we’ve welcomed Ayla safely into the world and we wanted to raise some money for a charity close to our heart that offered support in the early dark days last year.
Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.
Thank you.
