I’m swimming in November for families facing baby loss
I’ve committed to swimming this November for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.
Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change and provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals so that fewer babies die and fewer families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.
Thank you.

Baby loss is such a taboo subject for a lot of bereaved men to open up about. So there’s a lot of fathers, uncles and Brothers that suffer in silence and it shouldn’t be like that.
Wednesday 14th OctQuinn was born on the 6th of February 2019 but he was only 26 weeks old, the labor was just too much for his little body and he lived for 3 hours.
And then the heartbreaking fact sunk in we’re gonna be leaving the hospital without Quinn.
The royal hospital in Belfast has a bereavement suite that gave us some time with Quinn and i’m thankful we had that opportunity to give Him his only bath we would ever be able to and dress him in a beautiful blue wee cardigan with yellow duck buttons and wrapped in a rainbow blanket.
In the next few months i was so overwhelmed I didn’t know what to do with myself & then I heard about Sands United FC football teams in the Uk but there wasn’t one in Belfast. I wanted to do something that would keep Quinns memory alive and starting up the Sands United FC Belfast football team has been a great, positive outlet for myself & other Bereaved men. Wearing my shirt with my son’s name on it makes me proud to be playing for him and I hope he knows I’m always thinking about him.
Unfortunately, the team is not together anymore, but I would love to get it back together to reunite all the dad‘s uncles brothers.

But I’m here today to get back to the Support. I got from Sands and the many people that helped me to this day.
