Run 2k a Day in February 2026

I’m running 2k a day in Febuary for families facing baby loss

I’ve committed to running 2k a day this February for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Thank you.

I’m Nathan and I am running 2KM everyday in February to help support a charity that supports bereaved parents through child loss and works to give healthcare organisations the training and tools to provide the best bereavement care.

Many people I know, friends and family have lost babies, both during and after pregnancy and my partner, Hollie, is one of those.

Seeing two lines on a pregnancy test, we were so incredibly excited to welcome another baby into our family (although our daughter was only 4 months only when we found out). We booked an early scan to see how they were developing and at the scan, the sonographer couldn’t trace a heartbeat, but estimated the baby 5weeks 4days so may be too small and booked us in for another scan two weeks following the appointment.

The next morning, Hollie had a miscarriage, we went to the hospital, explained what happened, they said “it sounds like you’ve had a miscarriage, go home let it happen” and that’s way we did, filled with emotions and hurt, not understanding. Over the next two weeks, my partner was still experiencing pain from the loss and with both grieving, we thought we’d still go to the scan and make sure everything had passed.

At the scan, they could see where the baby had been growing and sadly passed, while they were checking her womb, they came across our now born Son, that had sadly lost their twin sibling.

While we are so lucky our boy survived, but we lost his sibling and the “what could have been”.

I am doing it for parents like us who get told “just go through the motions” , for those parents who suffer in silence, for those parents who get a brief moment with their babies before they leave us. Losing a baby at any point is so incredibly hard and hopefully this can help support even one person.

Thank you for donating.
