My Story

I'm fundraising in aid of Sands, for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

My story began when I went for my 20 weekend scan, everything seemed ok heart beat strong, moving like no tomorrow but then they left the room, said ‘I will be back in a minute’ as I lay starring at the tv on the wall off my baby I knew something was off they don’t just walk out while scanning.

Then she came back and said we need to get to Liverpool woman’s hospital the following week to double check my baby’s kidneys. The day came went in for the internal scan and my baby had no kidneys. My baby was slowly suffocating and there wasn’t anything I could do. At the age of 23 this isn’t what I wanted to hear, my baby was already loved. The doctors said the best way so I get to hold my baby was a medically advised abortion. ‘Abortion my baby is loved, wanted and will always be just that’ was my response. I was told otherwise I would miscarry at home most probably on the toilet and never get to hold my child.

At 23 weeks 3 days (17th december 2009) my baby’s heart stopped I knew it she just stopped moving no warning just stopped. I went in to hospital and was induced on the 19th December, all I could think is ‘please not today it’s, your cousins birthday any day but today’

My baby girl was born on 20th December at 12.01am, while holding her saying our goodbyes, and getting her blessed there was a butterfly on the window, and snow began to fall.

My baby girl was at peace, watching from above how loved she is, the government state she was never born or died but I know I gave birth to my baby girl, I held her in my arms and I will always know she was born on the 20th.

I struggled badly after that, and ended up in counselling to help me.  Was put on all sorts off tablets but they didn’t work. I know she is up there and hope she is proud of what she sees.

If it wasn’t for sands that day we would not have the memories that we still have today thanks to their memory box.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Thank you.

✨ WE DID IT – WE MADE IT TO THE TOP ✨

Sunday 23rd Aug
Yesterday we stood together at the summit of Snowdon – and honestly? There were so many moments along the way where we didn’t think we’d make it.

Every step was heavier, every slope steeper than we imagined. Legs burned, breath ran short, and tears mixed with the wind and rain more than once. But with every hard step, we carried all the little ones Sands exists for – and all the love and kindness you wrapped around us.

Because of you, we didn’t just climb a mountain. We climbed towards better care, more support, and gentle remembrance for every baby gone too soon. You helped us hit our target – and every single penny, every share, every kind word means more than we could ever put into words.

To everyone who donated, who shared our posts, who sent messages of strength: thank you. You held us up when the path got too tough. This climb wasn’t just ours – it was yours too.

We carry them all with us, always. 💛

WE’RE ON OUR WAY – FOR EVERY BABY GONE TOO SOON 💛

Saturday 22nd Aug
Today is the day. This morning, my family and I laced up our boots, pulled on our jackets, and set off to climb Snowdon – every step, every breath, every steep stretch of mountain done for Sands.

I know this pain all too well. I know how empty the days feel, how quiet the world gets when you should be holding someone who isn’t there. Sands was there when words failed, when the grief felt too heavy to carry alone – offering comfort, understanding, and a reminder that our babies are never forgotten.

Every penny raised funds vital support for families like mine, honours precious little lives, and drives better care for every pregnancy and baby. Even if you can’t donate, sharing this means more than you’ll ever know – it keeps their stories seen, and their memory alive.

We’re climbing for all the babies we’ve lost. For all the hearts that still ache. For every family who needs to know they are not walking this road alone.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for every donation, every share, every kind thought sent our way today. We carry you all with us up this mountain.

💛 We Climb for the Ones We Held, But Couldn’t Keep 💛

Wednesday 19th Aug
This Saturday, my family and I will take every step up the slopes of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) carrying something heavier than our walking boots — we carry the love, the memories, and the empty space left by the little ones we lost too soon.
Why we’re climbing…

Sands — the Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Charity — is more than a name to me. It is a lifeline. When the unthinkable happened, when my world broke and words felt impossible, Sands was there. They held me up when I couldn’t stand. They listened when I needed to speak, and sat in the silence when I couldn’t. They gave me hope when I thought I’d never find it again.

No one should ever have to walk that road alone. And thanks to Sands, no one does.

Every step we take this Saturday is to say: we see you. You are not forgotten. And you are not alone.
What your support means

💷 Every single penny helps Sands be there for other families facing the worst day of their lives.

• It provides free, specialist support whenever grief strikes — day or night.

• It funds vital research to understand why babies die and how we can save more lives.

• It gives families like mine a safe place to remember, to grieve, and to begin to heal.

💛 And if you can’t donate — please share this post. A share costs nothing, but it could reach someone who needs to know they’re not alone. It spreads awareness, it breaks the silence, and it shows families everywhere: your baby mattered, and so do you.
For all the little ones…

We climb for the babies who changed our lives in such a short time. For the ones we held, and the ones we only got to meet in our hearts. For every name whispered softly, every memory held close, every star that shines a little brighter.

They may not be here in our arms — but they walk every step with us.
“Your life had a beginning, a span, and an eternity in our hearts.”

No amount is too small. Every donation, every share, every kind word helps us climb a little higher — and brings Sands one step closer to being there for every family that needs them.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We will carry your kindness with us to the summit.

With love and gratitude,
Mo & Family xx
