I’m knitting for families facing baby loss
I'm knitting for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.
Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Stitching for Sands: My Christmas Knitting Challenge
Friday 4th SepI’ve set myself a little challenge between now and Christmas: to knit as many pairs of Shorty Socks by Summer Lee Knits as I possibly can, all in support of Sands.
I feel incredibly fortunate that I haven’t personally experienced the devastating loss of a baby. But I have close friends who have, and I’ve seen enough to know that it is a grief that stays with you. So, in my own small way, I wanted to do something in support of them and of the brilliant work Sands does for anyone affected by pregnancy and baby loss.
The Shorty Sock Set patterns are gorgeous little Fair Isle designs that are colourful, cheerful and super cute. My plan is to keep those needles moving between now and Christmas and see just how many pairs I can make.
I’m also hoping that, once they’re finished, I’ll be able to donate the socks so they can go on to do some good of their own.
So that’s the challenge: lots of tiny stitches, lots of tiny socks and hopefully a meaningful contribution to a charity that has supported people I care about.
