2026 November Swimming Challenge

I’m swimming in November for families facing baby loss

I’ve committed to swimming this November for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change and provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals so that fewer babies die and fewer families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Thank you.

My Updates

Baby Peter

Wednesday 14th Oct
I was 37 weeks pregnant when I went into labour age 17 years old with baby Peter, I had a fantastic pregnancy no concerns and I went to my midwife appointment the day before, Peter was ready and he was coming !!
I was so excited .. at 17 years old yet married I was still nervous and looking back now what a scary time for a young lady ..
When I got to hospital I was told through a Doppler scan and then an ultrasound scan that Peter no longer had a heartbeat and would be born sleeping forever!!
This was over 33 years ago and what we didn’t know at the time was I had pre eclampsia ..

I delivered Peter naturally at 4.03am on July 22nd 1993 and it was terrifying .. my baby was taken away and I didn’t see him it was too traumatic!!

I then was moved back on to the mother and baby ward where I suffered an eclamptic fit and I was asleep for 3 days .. when I awoke I went to see baby Peter in the chapel of rest many times before he was buried ..

We took a couple of photos but it’s not the sort you get out in the family pics .. it was very sad .. my poor baby boy ..

Peter would have been 33 today and I hope he’s with me all the time .. guiding and looking over his siblings and niece and nephews .. he would have loved them as much as I do !!

I want to raise money for SANDS .. I know that they are a valued service that is offering support for people like me, although I don’t take that help at the time and everyone deals with things differently I wished I’d have had that invaluable support for my family .. so I’m glad it goes on to help others ..

Thank you so much for sponsoring me .. ❤️
