2026 Ribbon Run Virtual

I’m taking part in Sands Ribbon Run

I’ve committed to taking part in Sands Ribbon Run which takes place during Baby Loss Awareness Week (9-15 October) for every much-loved baby sadly not here today.

Sands ensure that everyone affected by the loss of a baby gets the support they need and deserve when facing the toughest of times. They campaign for change, provide training for midwives and healthcare professionals, and support research so that fewer babies die and so that less families experience the tragedy of losing their baby. Anything you are able to donate means so much.

Thank you.

£20 - could provide a bereaved family with a memory box to help create and keep safe precious and lasting memories of their baby.

£35 - could answer a call from someone reaching out for support who has been through pregnancy loss or the death of a baby.

£100 - could help ensure every hospital in the UK has a dedicated Sands volunteer to help healthcare professionals access our training, guidance and support.

My story 🤍

For four years, I tried to have another baby.

After already having two children through natural conception and delivery, I never imagined that one day I would be told that I could no longer have children naturally.

That was the beginning of my IVF journey.

I went into IVF completely blind. I had no idea just how physically and emotionally demanding it would be — the endless blood tests, injections, tablets, appointments and the toll it would take on my body. And through it all, I kept it a secret from my entire family.

Then, finally, I fell pregnant. After everything we had been through, it felt like our little miracle had finally arrived.

But at my very first scan, I was told that my baby’s heartbeat was low.

I had scan after scan, hoping and praying that each time we would hear that little heartbeat getting stronger. But it wasn’t.

For three weeks, I walked around trying to live my life as normally as possible, while completely unaware that my baby was slowly passing away inside me.

Then came the final scan.

My baby’s heart had stopped.

My baby had passed away.

I was given the choice of how to manage the miscarriage, and I chose to have a D&C because the thought of naturally passing my baby was simply too much for me to bear.

Nothing can prepare you for that kind of loss.

It changed me forever.

I will never be the same version of myself I was before that day, because from that moment on, I became a mumma to a baby in heaven. 🤍

I went on to have two more rounds of IVF, hoping desperately that our story might have a different ending. Sadly, neither resulted in a pregnancy.

Three years on, the loss is still a part of me. My baby may not have grown up in my arms, but they will forever have a place in my heart.

Instead of little footprints beside me, I carry those footprints with me every single day. 🕊️

That is why I am taking part in the Sands 5K Ribbon Run.

I want to raise awareness for baby loss and, more importantly, raise money to help Sands support families who are going through the heartbreak that I know all too well.

No parent should ever have to leave hospital without their baby.

No family should have to navigate that grief feeling completely alone.

If my fundraising can help even one family feel supported, understood or give them something to hold onto during the darkest days, then every step of that 5K will be worth it.

I will be running for my angel.
For every baby who should be here.
And for every parent who has had to learn how to carry a love that can never be held. 🤍🎀

Thank you for reading my story and for helping me keep my baby’s memory alive.

Every donation, no matter how small, means more than you know.

🕊️🤍🎀
