I’m taking part in Sands Ribbon Run
I’m taking part in Sands Ribbon Run this Baby Loss Awareness Week 9-15 October.
Sands exists to support anyone affected by the death of a baby, before, during or shortly after birth, whenever this happened and for as long as they need support.
By sponsoring me, you are helping Sands break the silence around baby loss and to continue to save babies’ lives.
£10 - could provide a hand and footprint kit to help create memories.
£20 - could provide a bereaved family with a memory box to help create and keep safe precious and lasting memories of their baby.
£35 - could answer a call from someone reaching out for support who has been through pregnancy loss or the death of a baby.
£100 - could help ensure every hospital in the UK has a dedicated Sands volunteer to help healthcare professionals access our training, guidance and support.

In memory of our son Leo
Thursday 21st AugI'll be doing the Ribbon Run with Leo's Lions (in honour of our son Leo) during baby loss awareness week. We're raising money for Sands, an amazing charity who help families who have lost a baby.
If you would like to join our team (Leo's Lions - set up by his auntie Beth) and participate with us, please do! We'll be meeting at Strathclyde Park on 11 October at 10.45. I'll be running a 10k, but you can walk or run or whatever you fancy!
Now for the vulnerable part. When I was 6 months pregnant, we received the heartbreaking news that our son, Leo, had severe brain abnormalities. This was suspected at the 20 week scan, and following weeks of testing, waiting and praying, it was finally confirmed via MRI. Those were the worst weeks of our lives. I still can't get my head around why us.
We made the hardest decision we will ever have to make and decided to take on a lifetime of pain to save Leo from a life of pain. We didn't want our baby boy to suffer. It breaks my heart to write this, but I wanted to put our story out there in case anyone else needs someone to lean on. You just never know what someone is going through. I spent a lot of my time on forums reading posts by strangers where most of their scares turned out to be nothing, but ours never ended this way. And I would have spared my own life for his if I could have.
After we delivered our beautiful son, thanks to amazing charities like Sands, we got to spend time with Leo; creating memories which allowed us to capture moments we will treasure forever. And this was also only possible thanks to the cold cots in the hospital, which are expensive but allow families to have that time. I will forever be grateful for this.
